Sg Selangor Dam: Then & Now

Sungai Selnagor Dam, the whole area is as big as 94,000 olympic-size swimming pools with the depth of 110m or 31 floors apartment. According to the information that i got during the first visit on May, it provides water for Klang Valley and can last for three months.

During the second visit by my friends recently, the water level had decreased due the hot weather. Some may got a shock because the water level is still low during rainny season. According to the SPLASH officers, this condition is normal and it will take months fill up the whole area.

Just compare the then (May 2012) and now (Nov 2012) of Sungai Selangor Dam...

KLWRO 2012

World Robot Olympiad 2012 - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Theme: Robots Connecting People

Malaysia had done a great job in hosting the ninth World Robot Olympiad (WRO). The 2012 competition is a worldwide robotics competition which was held at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre from 9 to 11 November 2012. A total of 403 teams from 30 countries were participated in the competition.  Malaysia bagged eight medals. Visit http://www.wro2012.org for more details.

We, IAB was given the task to provide food for about 2000 officials and participants. Nine outlets located in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall were indentified as food provider. Beside that, a friendship night was held at the Sunway Resort's grand ballroom on 10 Nov 2012. It was not an easy task but we did it!

Workshop @ Selesa Resort, PD

Attended a digital native workshop organised by BPG, at Selesa Resort, Port Dickson, 7-10 Nov 2012.  On 7 Nov, I reached Selesa Resort at about 4.00 p.m. and was told that there will be no briefing session in the afternoon. So, I decided to visit the army museum. Unfortunately, I didn't enter the exhibition hall because of safety purpose...no officer on duty, no other visitors, dimming light in the exhibition hall and... there were workers around.

Tanjung Tuan, Malacca

Tanjung Tuan (Cape Rachado), Malacca. 16 Sept 2012

Tanjung Tuan, also known as Cape Rachado, is well known as a popular stopover point for migrating raptors. The migratory season will be in March and October.

The Tanjung Tuan entrance is just next to PNB Ilham Beach Resort. Entrance to Cape Rachado is RM1.00 per visitor.

The lighthouse at the peak, about 1km uphill walk from the Tanjung Tuan entrance. The lighthouse is facing the Strait of Malacca and believed to have been originally built by the Portuguese in the 16th century.

From the peak, visitors have an amazing view of the sea.

Kuantan, Pahang

Kuantan, 12-14 Sept 2012

My last visit to Kuantan was two years ago. This time, i was assigned to visit four schols in Kuantan district.  I was a bit worried because i don't know Kuantan well and the only hotel that i can remember is Grand Continental Hotel (GCH). I tried to locate the schools using google maps but it was useless because i don't know Kuantan. So what i did was just prayed God to lead the way. Thank God I found GCH easily before 7pm on 12 Sept.

My journey to SMK Paya Bear on day one was not smooth. I lost my way in Kuantan town for about 20 minutes looking for the so called 'numbered traffic light' where i need to make a right turn leading to SMK Paya Besar. The local people are very friendly and they give direction as if you are local too. Well, I managed to locate the school after an hour.

After visiting SMK Pelindung on 13 Sept., I detoured to Teluk Cempedak which is not far from the school. The beach is beautiful but too many monkeys around the bridge. One of them was pulling my long skirt and refused to let go when i tried to pull back. May be they are just too hungry.

I was there for about 30 minutes but went there again after visiting SK Beserah and SMK Tengku Afzan.on14 Sept.
